Jonathan’s journey to becoming the CMO of Trainual wasn’t your typical climb up the corporate ladder. Nope, his path was as adventurous as the brand he helped shape! From childhood entrepreneurial ventures with his brother to running a successful video production company, Jonathan’s experiences were anything but ordinary. 

It was his passion for outdoor content and working with brands like Cliff Bar and Keen Footwear that set the stage for his unique marketing perspective.

When Trainual entered the scene, Jonathan’s background in consumer marketing and adventure media played a significant role in their marketing strategy. Instead of resorting to traditional B2B marketing tactics, Trainual took a different route. They focused on authenticity and telling real human stories, just like the outdoor adventure brands Jonathan had worked with before.

As Jonathan highlights, outdoor brands don’t bombard you with flashy ads or CTAs. They connect with their audience by sharing inspiring stories and aligning themselves with the adventures people love.

Looking back at his expectations in 2018, Jonathan admits he didn’t anticipate being involved with Trainual for this long. But when things got rolling, and the excitement grew, he couldn’t resist staying on board. While he still pursues his passion for adventure media and music, Trainual has become an integral part of his journey.

They’ve proven that authenticity, storytelling, delivering valuable content, and building a community of like-minded individuals can drive success in the ever-evolving marketing landscape.

Reflecting on Trainual’s journey, Jonathan shares one key lesson he has learned from his entrepreneurial experiences:

“Experiences matter over experience. Every entrepreneur should understand that the unique things in their background are the reason they are where they are today.”

He emphasizes the importance of embracing the unique aspects of your background and using them as a strength. Instead of comparing yourself to others based on years of experience, focus on the valuable experiences that have shaped your journey.

This perspective not only applies to entrepreneurs but also guides Trainual’s hiring process, where they seek individuals with diverse experiences rather than simply years in a specific role.

In a data-driven world, Jonathan encourages entrepreneurs to trust their intuition and gut feelings. While data is crucial, it can sometimes lead to paralysis by analysis. By honing your intuition and making quick decisions based on your gut feelings, you can create disproportionate outcomes and drive your business forward.
