Send us a recording.
Get back an SOP.
Writing procedures is the job everybody agrees matters and nobody has time for. So it never happens, and the work stays in a handful of people's heads.
Record yourself doing the task once, up to 30 minutes. We do the writing.
You have probably tried
writing them already.
Most SOPs fail the same way. They get written by the person who already knows how to do the job, so they skip the four steps that are obvious to them and invisible to everyone else. A competent stranger still cannot follow it.
This works differently for one reason. We are not the expert. We are the competent stranger, writing down what we had to be told.
How it works
Four steps, and only one of them is yours.
You record
Up to thirty minutes of real work, on a real day, with real data. Do not tidy up first. The messy version is the one we need.
You send it
Upload the file to the folder we set up for you. That is the whole handoff.
We write it
Five business days. We may email two or three questions, which usually means the recording was good.
You check it
Two rounds of revisions. Then hand it to someone who has never done the job and watch them run it.
What you get
What you do not get
Our opinion on whether it is the right way to work. We write down what you do. We do not redesign it.
That is deliberate. Getting it out of people's heads is the first job and it stands on its own. If the document makes it obvious the process needs fixing, that is a far easier conversation to have with the document in front of you, and it is what our process optimization work is for.
Buy one. Or buy a few and pay less each.
One documented job in a business where nothing else is written down does not change much. Most people work through several, so the packs cost less per SOP.
One task, one document. The way to find out whether this works without thinking about it too hard.
$700 each, instead of $950. Enough to cover the handful of things only one person currently knows how to do.
$500 each. Enough that a whole function keeps running when any one person in it does not.
If the recording is not good enough,
you have not lost anything.
Questions
What do I record with?+
Whatever you already have. On a Mac press Cmd+Shift+5 and set your microphone in Options, because it is off by default. On Windows 11 open the Snipping Tool and switch it to Record. Both are free and already installed.
What if the task takes longer than thirty minutes?+
Thirty minutes is a cap, not a target, and shorter is completely fine. Split a longer task into two recordings and tell us where the seam is.
What if I am not the person who does the work?+
Then you are not the person who should record it. The value is in the reasoning of whoever actually does the job, including the parts they have stopped noticing.
How fast do I need to reply to your questions?+
One business day, on questions and on revision feedback. Five days only works because we both move fast, and if we are waiting on you the clock pauses.
How is this different from your SOP consulting?+
This is the fast, fixed-price version for getting existing work written down. Our SOP consulting is for building a programme: standards, templates, training and rollout across a business.
Pick the process that breaks most often.
That is the one to record first. Tell us what it is and we will set up your folder and send you the one-page recording guide.
